Abel was the son of Adam and Eve and is praised in the book of Hebrews for an offering he brought to the Lord. This sacrifice on the part of Abel is significant now to you today – it was a demonstration of what Jesus would eventually do on the cross. Blood needed to be shed to cover sin…this is what Abel did as an act of faith and honor of God. And it’s the same thing that saves you today – an offering of blood.
