Listen Later

With tomorrow marking the date 500 years ago that Leonardo da Vinci died aged 67, Michael talks to Tom Rizzo, Director of Travelling Exhibitions - Da Vinci Promotions representing the Museum of Leonardo da Vinci, to look into the life of perhaps the most extraordinary mind of all time who epitomised the Renaissance humanist ideal.
The Italian polymath of the Renaissance whose areas of interest included invention, drawing, painting, sculpting, architecture, science, music, mathematics, engineering, literature, anatomy, geology, astronomy, botany, writing, history & cartography has been variously called the father of palaeontology, ichnology and architecture.
He is widely considered one of the greatest painters of all time and sometimes times credited with the inventions of the parachute, helicopter and the tank.
The "Da Vinci Machines" exhibition is currently in Albury until June 23rd and is seeking future host venues around regional Australia.   www.artisansofflorence.com
