Abraham planting a tamarisk tree in Beer-sheba and calling on the name of Jehovah in Gen 21:33 signifying his enjoying the tree of life and the water of life from the wells of salvation (Beer-sheba means well of an oath) to have a deeper experience of God. This leads to chapter 22 where he:

* is tested by God

* is obedient by faith

* offers Isaac to God as a rich type of Christ

* receives the ram as the substitute (a type of Christ as the Lamb of God)

* enjoys the blessing of God, the multiplication of the seed.
