It finally happened...They made Carrie the lead character in an episode. Charles, persuaded by Jonathan Garvey, decides to take on a month long employment with the new Telephone system coming into the area, leaving Caroline alone at home with the kids...once again. With Charles gone and everyone busy, Carrie is not sure where to be without getting potential injured or yelled out.  Eventually Carrie is sent out to play on her own far away from home.  This is where she meets Alyssa, the type of person who makes your vision go all hazy when she's around.  Together these two proceed to go traipsing into worlds unexplored by Carrie and just be free.  Meanwhile, that promising job Charles and Jonathan Garvey are working on is is anything but.  With a pushy boss  promising a bonus if the work is completed on time and a very questionable chef with a thing for potatoes managing the work crew...this job site is surviving. When the job is completed Charles returns home and Carrie tries to introduce her special friend. It's a long run episode that feels like a long run episode.  Why doesn't Carrie have any friends around her own age she can hang out with? Where did Shaughnessy get his distillery set-up? What was really in that flower Alyssa gave Carrie to huff...smell?
