Jesus calls disciples to lay everything down before him—even our very selves. For theological confession to mean anything, we must follow Jesus along the way and confess him before those who would shame and kill us.

It is a great thing to confess that Jesus is the Christ, but we must go further and confess why he came: to die on the cross for our sins. We need Jesus to open our blind eyes to recognize him, and to give us full sight so we know and embrace his mission.
