Decluttering in midlife can feel very different than it did years ago.
By this stage of life, so many of the things in our homes are connected to people, memories and different seasons we’ve lived through. The kids’ things, family keepsakes, gifts, belongings from parents, clothes from an earlier version of ourselves—even things we don’t necessarily want anymore can carry a story that makes letting go feel complicated.
In Episode 18 of Tidy Talk, we’re talking about why decluttering can become more emotional in midlife and why having a hard time making certain decisions doesn’t necessarily mean you should keep everything.
Sometimes it simply means the decision deserves a little more thought.
We’ll talk about slowing down, understanding what’s really making an item difficult to let go of, and beginning to decide what still belongs in the life and home you have today.
Because the goal isn’t to erase your past or get rid of the things that matter. It’s to keep the memories that are meaningful to you while creating a home that feels easier to live in, manage and enjoy in this season of your life.
