There is a tremendous amount of fruit spread all across our church family! God is moving in many diverse, high-yielding ways. Yet the temptation of our flesh and the world around us will be to distract us. How can we strive to ensure the planting of the Lord takes root and flourishes in us and through us?

In this weekend's passage we encounter continued (and even surprising) pushback against Jesus. How can His people ensure that we are unreservedly following God’s will, and not slip into wayward and even evil resistance?

Spending with Jesus may seem like a basic practice, but there is incomparable power when we ensure we stay connected to the Lord (and seriously dangerous threats when we remain separated from him). Join us in this exploration as we encounter the profound simplicity of spending time with Jesus.

As soon as he steps onto the ministry and preaching scene, Jesus is being targeted. In perfect wisdom and grace he clarifies that the things the Father gives to his people (commands and blessings) are fully for their good. Will they – will we – trust him and fully entrust ourselves to his good will?

Christians can get quite sleepy and stuck and stuffy, unnecessarily. When it is a season where God is doing new things we should join the party (not grumble because the new wine is threatening to burst our old wineskins).

In this message Mackenzie Matthews explores Mark 2.13-17 and the ways Jesus saw and invited the most socially despicable people (tax collectors) to belong with Him. The statement Jesus makes at the end of this account is a profound one: that He came not for the healthy but the sick. This message will challenge you to evaluate how you extend Gods welcome to those you come in contact with and it will encourage you to see yourself righty: a deeply flawed sinner covered in perfect grace.

Rising in great popularity and influence, more and more people are coming to see Jesus for the great signs and teachings he is giving. Mark’s Gospel really carries a rapid pace in this week’s passage. Amidst the flurry of activity, we comes to grips with the realities of spiritual battles and become challenged with who holds control over where our beliefs lead our actions.

As Jesus begins his preaching ministry he invites people around him who he will teach, and train, and release. This call to follow him, even if it comes unexpected and even undeserved, does not come lightly! It will utterly change, not just our lives, but our very selves.
