God cares for each of his people, including older people. Our society tends to shun them, forget about them, and think of them as unimportant. But God thinks differently. We are to show the elderly respect for what they’ve done in their lives so our lives could be better. We are encouraged to listen to the elderly and learn from their mistakes. They have valuable information for us. And finally, God encourages older people to be proud of their gray hair because it is a sign of hard work in sharing their inheritance of faith with the next generation.

The Israelites would soon enter Canaan, and Moses was not allowed to go with them. Before God took him to heaven, God told Moses to instruct the people, to remind them of what God had done for them. He retaught this group of young people the original covenant that God had made with their parents when they came out of Egypt. Moses encouraged the people to remember these things and pass them on to their children—transmitting the faith. In the same way God encourages us to share the gospel message with our children.

As Hezekiah lay dying God miraculously healed him and even gave him a sign that he would get better. God doesn't often give us signs today for things that we ask for, but God has a plan for our life. No matter the good or bad that may happen God is ultimately in control and our only job is to believe. If we believe in him we will have the blessing of eternal life in heaven!

God wants us to be just like Jonah. Jonah didn't run from God's command to go to Nineveh because he thought it wouldn't work, he was scared because he knew the power of God's Word. Christ himself said he wanted to be just like Jonah. Let's follow his lead and be like Jonah, too. God's mercy is universal for all people so don't be afraid to shout God's saving message from the rooftops.

But they were faithful servants of God, whom despite possible ridicule and doubt, built this floating home to preserve the family of believers. The church is our ark today, our safe zone. We might be made fun of or looked down upon, but we are children of God and on that last Judgment Day will be rewarded with eternal life in Heaven.

Daniel was thrown into the lion's den, but miraculously was not killed or even harmed by the lions. God works in two great ways. People sometimes perish for their faith and sometimes God choses to let his believers live and performs a miracle. Either way, as children of God, we trust that he is in control and our only job is to believe.

The Babylonian king ordered all to worship false gods, but when three brave men said no they were thrown into a fiery furnace. God chose to save them from burning alive and the people on Babylon worshipped the one true God. Standing up for your faith and what God tells us is right can be intimidating. We might not be saved from embarrassment, ridicule, or even death, but by representing ourselves as true children of God we will be blessed with a glorious eternal life in heaven.

Hezekiah stayed firm in his faith that God would provide. God allowed the people of Judah to be terrified of the impending battle with the Assyrians to show them that through all things God is in control. Then he sent just one angel to destroy the Assyrians. Our faith will not grow unless it is tested. We don't always feel God's presence in life, but blessed are those who believe.

Put all your trust in Jesus because he will provide. Our prayers might not be answered in the way we want or when we want, but God is listening. He hears our needs.
