“If you’re the smartest person in your circle, find a different circle!” is what I grew up hearing from my mom, and she’s right! Add this to all the other quotable quotes from Mom and lessons learned that have constantly kept me growing and evolving in my personal and professional life.
On this episode I’m discussing the value in seeking different groups of people to learn from, be inspired by, find aligned support with mentorship, and be challenged to pivot as you step into new opportunities to share your gifts with the world.
It’s easy to stay in our comfort zone with the same people we’ve known for years, but that can keep us stuck and less likely to grow, take chances, and pursue God’s calling and purpose for us.
Highlights:
(02:58) Are you THAT person?
(06:50) A new group and fresh perspective
(10:06) It’s time to grow
(14:36) Open your eyes to possibilities
(17:05) Make those connections

From the first days of summer to the final ones, we experienced lots of joys and some pretty significant losses. Every opportunity more apparent than the last that we get to choose how we’ll respond.
I was introduced to this poem a while back and it was interesting then, and more meaningful many months later when I discovered it again.
Hopefully, it encourages you to see things with a different perspective and remember that we all have the choice to flip the script whenever we want, preferably to one of positivity and hope.
Highlights:
(1:04) New hair, new vibes
(1:38) Poetry with a twist

In light of the 2024 Paris Olympics, I had to bring on a dear friend to tell us what it’s like being an Olympic athlete, and she did not disappoint!
Lindsey Napela Berg is a 3-time Olympian, 2-time Silver Medalist, and former Captain of the USA Indoor Volleyball Team. Lindsey grew up in Honolulu, Hawaii playing on the beach and indoor since the age of 7. Her talents then took her to the cold to help the University of Minnesota build their successful program. Along with her Olympic appearances, she played 8 years professionally in Italy and Turkey.
Since retiring she has dedicated her time to giving back to the volleyball community through storytelling and mentorship, investing in the gym Unbreakable Performance, LOVB (League One Volleyball), and real estate. Lindsey loves to travel the world as a self-proclaimed foodie and fashionista. I can attest that both of these are true!
Highlights:
(2:31) Living for the game
(15:49) Chasing the Olympic dream
(22:19) Mastering volleyball success
(32:43) The world beyond the court
(37:45) Victory in the pivot
Mentioned:
Ep 58: The Power of Visualization

After a few heavy weeks of loss and new perspectives on life, we’re leaning all the way into embracing change with confidence this summer!
That started with a Mom’s Night Out at the legendary Gas Lite in Santa Monica, CA, singing some old school jams like Salt ‘N’ Pepa’s Shoop, and led to the confidence boost I needed to tackle other new opportunities I had been putting off for too long.
If you’re in a funk, feeling stuck, grieving, depressed, stressed, or overwhelmed to the max, I highly recommend doing something so outside-the-norm that shakes up your regular routine. I know I needed this and being with my best girlfriends was the cherry on top.
Highlights:
(03:35) Christmas songs in Summer?
(06:16) Tonight’s the night!
(08:22) Wait.. THOSE are the lyrics?
(11:40) Embracing change
Mentioned:

Why am I so excited to talk about fear? Because we all experience it on some level; it’s normal. It’s a trigger that’s meant to keep us safe, but more often than not, it keeps us stuck or even paralyzed.
Again, why the excitement? Because we can absolutely learn to move through that fear and even use it to do great things, serve others, experience acceptance, surrender, joy, gratitude, peace, and boost our self-confidence! Crazy, right?
We can harness those big, scary, totally normal feelings, laser focus on our mission or task at hand, and ultimately leave the fear behind and live the life that’s meant for us.
The question is: are you willing to bravely make the choice to no longer let fear determine your future?
Highlights:
(3:56) “Fear is my homeboy”
(10:36) Unstoppable spirit
(15:08) Together we rise
(21:58) Faith-fueled inspiration
Mentioned:

Knowing that at any moment our time here could be cut short and actually experiencing that firsthand has brought us a new perspective of living with intention.
Recently our family and community has endured several losses of loved ones of all ages, and some days the grief feels overwhelming. I’m reminded of how important it is to continue moving forward and remember the best lessons and fun memories we shared with them. When I see my daughter and her classmates wearing their “get busy living” shirts in honor of their middle school director, Dave Ludwig, it makes the loss feel purposeful.
Not only has he inspired us endlessly with his commitment to live his final moments to the fullest as he battled ALS, we are also inspired by the Gray family, who tirelessly work to bring awareness and funding for research of Batten’s Disease for their two daughters, Charlotte and Gwenyth. Heaven gained a couple more angels as Charlotte and Dave arrived and now we look forward to the day we get to see them again. In the meantime, let’s get busy living.
Highlights:
(4:25) Living with purpose
(10:00) The side hustle
(16:16) My love of teaching
(20:53) Heartbreak recovery
(23:51) Embrace every moment

If ever you’ve felt like you need to talk less, be less opinionated, less ambitious, and keep your creativity under wraps, it’s time to shine brighter than ever before! The world needs your brilliance, so don’t let other people or even your own negative self-talk keep you from being exactly who you were born to be.
Recently I was featured in two magazine publications and the interview questions were a bit different than others I’ve been asked. One, in particular, had me spilling my guts about things that happened in my past that contributed to my confidence and self-esteem today.

My guest, Franceska Marie McCaughan, is a powerhouse in transforming female leaders into their million-dollar selves by tackling unresolved childhood trauma.
Her story is one of resilience. At seven, she faced her mother’s gun, a moment that split her life into 'before' and 'after.' Her childhood was a survival thriller: running water was a luxury, and an empty fridge was the norm.
She was often told to move on from the past, but she realized that what we try to outrun is what we need to process. Franceska’s mission is to help others heal and thrive, creating a more genuine and connected world.
Highlights:
(3:44) From Texas to Germany
(7:31) The deeper calling
(18:32) A healing journey
(23:11) Imagination escape
(28:12) Crafting our legacy
(32:06) Seizing every moment
(40:15) A sanctuary of safety

After recent success with a speaking program I completed, and receiving two awards for a talk I gave, panic started to set in when new opportunities flooded my inbox.
As much as I had hoped for this to happen, I didn’t expect my body to respond the way it did, to higher levels of anxiety than I’m used to. What started as shock and excitement when I woke up to multiple new inquiries about my availability for interviews for TV, radio, podcast guest spots, magazine articles, and opportunities to fly to Canada and Texas to speak about getting organized, embracing change, and pivoting with confidence, ended with me lying on the ground outside, eyes closed, beside my car, as my kids watched me take deep breaths and wondered if I was okay.
Highlights:
(1:58) Simplify and thrive!
(4:24) Nailing the work-life act
(8:19) The elephant on my chest
(13:17) Mastering self-regulation
(18:03) The impact of talking it out
