There’s no accident involved in the failure of embattled state institutions, says Thabo Mbeki.

The former president was speaking at Unisa, where he is the chancellor, about state of the country on Thursday.

He commented on state institutions such as Eskom, the police and Transnet 

Mbeki said there are greedy and corrupt people who want to ensure the state fails.

Mbeki says the parties have every right to oppose the ANC, but have no solutions to turn around the economy.

Section 194 committee chair Qubudile Dyantyi says the National Assembly must act with speed to vote on suspended public protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane’s removal.

The committee concluded in its final report to the National Assembly on Tuesday that Mkhwebane must be removed. The onus is now on the full parliamentary house to vote on the document whether Mkhwebane must be removed.

Advocate Mkhwebane’s seven-year term as public protector ends on October 14. Dyantyi told the media the National Assembly must vote on the document with speed before the end of Mkhwebane’s term in office.

She was suspended last year by president Cyril Ramaphosa after he called her integrity into question.

Busisiwe Mkhwebane has been charged with misconduct by a section 194 parliamentary committee.

Mkhwebane was suspended as public protector after President Cyril Ramaphosa called her integrity into question last year.

The committee adopted a final report to impeach Mkhwebane which they will forward to the National Assembly. Her term in office ends on October 14.

The EFF and ATM rejected the report and said they would take it on review.

The multiparty charter for South Africa has found common ground and agreed on three key agreements that will govern their pre-election coalition pact, according to convention chairperson Prof William Gumede.
