Load-shedding will be reduced to stage 5 at midnight on Monday after the return of some generation units.

Beleaguered power utility Eskom implemented stage 6 rolling blackouts on Sunday, putting sharper focus on SA's continuing energy crisis. 

In a brief statement, Eskom said after the tripping of a generation unit each at Kusile and Kriel power stations stage 6 load-shedding had to be implemented.

With 15,319MW of capacity unavailable due to breakdowns and 7,210MW on planned maintenance, Eskom has extended stage four loadshedding until Sunday morning.

Witness Tumelo Madlala identified the second accused in the Meyiwa murder trial as the second intruder who entered the Vosloorus home where soccer star Senzo Meyiwa died in 2014 in the Pretoria high court on Thursday. When pointed out by Madlala, Ntanzi appeared to give a nervous smile.  

Madlala had yesterday testified that he was “annoyed" at being in the same room as the man who allegedly killed Meyiwa.

Tumelo Madlala, the state's third witness in Senzo Meyiwa's murder trial, told the Pretoria high court on Wednesday that he tried to stop blood flowing from the soccer star's gunshot wound while rushing him to hospital. Madlala was among those at the Vosloorus house on the day the Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper was killed in 2014.

Advocate Dali Mpofu and chairperson Qubudile Dyantyi were at each other’s throats on Tuesday.

The drama started when Mpofu asked for a postponement of the impeachment inquiry due to preparing for court proceedings against suspended public protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane.
