After spending over 40 years in the Pentecostal Evangelical Christian Church Timmy survives to talk about it. Yes, that's the tongue talkers who believe that only people who believe in Jesus go to Heaven everyone else goes to Hell, sex before marriage is a sin, masturbation is a sin, being gay is a sin, cussing is a sin, alcohol is a sin, gambling is a sin, dancing is a sin (unless your dancing before the Lord) and listening to any music other than Christian Music is a sin. Timmy understands that not all Christian Faiths are this extreme, this is just his story.
His good friend Kyle Haas, former Assembly of God Missionary in training, joins him on the podcast for a conversation about their journey away from the religion they once cherished so deeply.
They talk candidly about their struggles with certain beliefs, and obvious contradictions found in the Bible that didn't jive with reason. Timmy said, "that it began unraveling for him when facts began contradicting his faith." He said it was at that point he decided to take an honest look at the faith he grew up in.
The title of the podcast came from something Kyle said to Timmy in the podcast about Christians who in an attempt to remain a virgin would engage in "alternative sex acts."
poophole loophole (plural poophole loopholes)
(slang, idiomatic, humorous) The idea that a woman can engage in anal sex and still remain a virgin.LINK to the study Timmy and Kyle referred to about highly religious people being less educated.
Disclaimer: Timmy and Kyle in no way were trying to be disrespectful to those who are religious in their comments about highly religious people are typically less educated. They were simply sharing what they've heard to be true in studies they've read.
