If you’re like me, you may not have heard the term until recently.

During a recent Society for Communications & Telecommunications Council (SCTC) discussion, more than two-thirds of the participants admitted they had never heard it either. That immediately caught my attention.

As it turns out, cloud repatriation isn’t about abandoning the cloud.

It’s about making better architectural decisions.

For years, organizations asked:

Cost. Performance. AI. Data gravity. Predictability. Control.

Those factors are changing how organizations evaluate their infrastructure, and public safety is no exception.

When it comes to NG911, CAD, emergency communications, and other mission-critical systems, architects don’t optimize for the newest technology. They optimize for reliability when lives depend on it.
