Tony and Laura discussed the work of the Commonwealth Institute for Fiscal Analysis (TCI), which focuses on policy issues in Virginia to improve the lives of low-income individuals and communities of color. TCI conducts research, analyzes data, and collaborates with grassroots organizations to ensure that the voices and concerns of underserved communities are heard and supported in the decision-making process of the Virginia General Assembly.
Tony mentioned that there was an article on TCI's website about Richmond's tradition of black-led labor organizing, which he found appealing and hoped others would link to. He wanted Laura to discuss this specific article on LaborPane, as he believed that all the blog posts and newsroom work on the TCI website spoke to the struggles faced by working people.
Laura and Tony discuss the history of interracial organizing in labor movements, highlighting the successful solidarity formed among working-class individuals

Adam and I chat about how his passion for labor and organizing was sparked as a young person and heavily influenced by his spiritual and cultural connection to his Jewish faith. Truly, Moses and the Pharaoh might be the FIRST documented instance of labor relations in history! Who’s to say??
He then turned those convictions into action by organizing his own workplace. Adam and his colleagues at work teamed up with the Teamsters and won big!
