Starting a side business is the first step towards experimentation of your dream idea. You are testing to see if it is a viable business idea, one that can be sustained for the long haul.

There will be moments where the idea is not bringing the kind of traction that you are hoping for. Sometimes it’s like going against a wall. No momentum. No seeming return on the investment of your time and efforts.

This is where you have to continue to move forward because you know it is your passion. Moving forward during this time does not mean you continue doing things the same way. You might need to make some necessary changes along the way.

One of the most important part of conducting your side business is the marketing aspect. This is one of the most challenging piece for so many businesses. Creating a product as we discussed in previous episodes, is the easy part. Marketing and selling is the hard part.

I know this is so for me. I am still learning and becoming more comfortable with this process.

Using social media platforms are one way of marketing. It is not an optional way. Most of the people that you will be focusing on, are on one of the many social media platforms.

The temptation is to get on as many as possible. However, I’m suggesting that you pick two or three to focus on. One of those should be Facebook.

Depending on the market you are in, will be the determinant as to what other platform you choose.
