You may have heard it said, “Change is the only constant in life” but I’m creating a twist to that phrase by adding one word – Career.
In this episode you’ll hear me making reference to career change as the only constant in life at midlife even though it might not hold up as a scientific fact.
There are a number of changes that are made at midlife for many people. Based on what I’ve seen, heard and read, changes occur mostly in relationships and career at this stage of life.
It would seem that a very large number of the divorces occur during the midlife years as people realize they have grown apart or they spent most of their life focused on the kids and not the marriage.
As couples, they feel more like strangers than they do husband and wife. There’s no connection and may not have had one for several years.
Life becomes unravelled during this stage of life. There are pressures from all sides especially as one looks forward and backward.
What is seen in looking forward, could be quite depressing – aging parents, financial lack, time slipping by and more.
This depressed feeling could also be found looking backward. Seeing a generation behind and the world that awaits them, create some anxieties.
The good news is that by embracing change, the pictures seen before and behind, would not look as dim as it now does.
As you listen to this episode, you’ll discover some of my own challenges as I too wrestle with change even though it is not career change per se.
I share on some of the above ideas in my new book – The Midlife Launch, which you can access below. I also outlined in my eBook practical steps you can take to identify, clarify and pursue your dream / passion.
