TML198: How To Have A Supportive Wife During Midlife Transition with Kingsley Grant
So many men in midlife long to have a supportive wife who would join them in their quest to accomplish their dream. At least that’s what I’ve heard and read.
I’m not sure that’s a fair assessment. Most times it’s the husband’s lack of giving her enough and before-hand information that leads to her not being readily supportive.
One of the questions I like to ask these men is, how long have you had the idea of a transition? Many of them will say, a long time.
I’ll follow up with, when did you inform your wife of your idea? Some will say they gave her enough lead time. They discussed it every step of the way. Others have said, when I was getting ready to make their final decision.
The former has a better chance. However, it may lack outlining a path that allows his wife to feel secured.
The latter, is almost always met with resistance because of the “newness” of the information.
Either way, the conclusion tend to be “my wife is not supportive of my dream.”
