Filmmaker and director Paul Taublieb comes on the podcast to talk about his latest feature doc Blink of an Eye, a Nascar underdog story on Michael Waltrip and his horrendous record long losing streak, how he got the ride of a lifetime from the sports most iconic and legendary driver, Dale Earnhardt Sr. The film talks about Waltrips first race with DEI (Dale Earnhardt Inc) at the 2001 Daytona 500, the sports biggest race of the year. Waltrip went on to win that race but as most people know, it was bitter sweet for him as his mentor, team owner, and most of all his best friend was killed on a last lap crash. I talk to Paul about how the movie came to be and the important part Monster Energy played in bringing this film to life. The film is Michaels story on what their friendship was like, he and Dale, how it affected him after the crash, and how telling his story for a Monster Energy conference, lead to the creation of this authentic, emotional, heartfelt story.
