Giltner, one of the more authoritative voices at practice, has been a key cog in developing the Hokies into a consistent winner since head coach Mike Young's arrival. Giltner has provided an eye for the details and none of that came more to fruition than the breakout season of Keve Aluma, a transfer from Wofford, who took his game to another level (8 ppg in 2018-19), averaging 15 points and eight rebounds per game on his way to an All-ACC season in 2020-21. In his first season in Blacksburg, Giltner was the special assistant to the head coach and played an integral role, as Tech broke the ACC and school record of most 3-pointers made in a game (21) and upset then-No. 3 Michigan State.
