This one goes out to all my actor pals. đźŽ
But even if you’re not an actor, this video still applies to you. 🤗
I read a Martha Graham quote that at its heart speaks to the unique self expression that we were each born into this world to fulfill.
And if you’re curious what the heck “Self Tape May” is, it is a free challenge created by Audrey Moore, host of the podcast Audrey Helps Actors. Each May, actors attempt to complete 16 mock self tape auditions as a way to practice their audition skills.

Okay, so I'm not doing Self Tape May.
But I admire every actor that is doing Self Tape May. You are all awesome, and you are crushing it, and I'm so proud of you.
And also, I just admire and love actors in general because what we do is not easy.
The acting part isn't easy. There's a lot of skill that goes into that.
And then the dealing with the roller coaster of being an actor is really hard.
And so if you've chosen this crazy-making profession, you are brave and you are awesome and you are amazing. And what I would like to offer you is a Martha Graham quote.
This is my offering for Self Tape May and I love you.
I love you actors.
There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action.
And because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique.
And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost.
The world will not have it.
It is not your business to determine how good it is, nor how valuable, nor how it compares with other expressions.
It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly.
To keep the channel open.
You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work.
You have to keep yourself open and aware to the urges that motivate you.
Keep the channel open.
No artist is pleased.
There is no satisfaction whatever at any time.
There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction.
A blessed unrest that keeps us marching and makes us more alive than the others.
Happy Self Tape May!
