Hey everyone! I know it's been a while since I've posted, but I'm back with a fresh new episode! I'm talking about being a single parent trying to date while having a child on the autism spectrum. If you're a single parent like me, you know that it has it's ups and downs. And when you throw a child on the autism spectrum in the mix, whew, our plates are full. This is a really quick episode but I hope you all enjoy. I promise to post more!
*REMINDER: These are our personal experiences and thoughts. So take what we say lightly.*
For this episode, I felt it was very important to highlight father's who are also involved in their children's lives. Especially father's with children on the spectrum so I brought in my son's father, Anthony Overton. He discusses some of his thoughts and feelings when it comes to our son, Dante. And I know I've been m.i.a for a little while, but I'm back. Thank you to those that continue to listen and to the new listeners as well. The love and support has been great! I hope you enjoy the episode. Don't forget to leave me a message if you have any questions or comments about the episode.
FYI: We are a family that DO NOT promote acts of violence. Thank you :)
Hey everyone! This episode, I will be sharing some of my personal fears and worries when it comes to my son who is on the autism spectrum. I discuss matters such as possible police encounters, bullying, outsiders judgements, school system and more. Enjoy the episode and if you have any comments or questions, feel free to send me a message. What are some of your fears and worries?
Everyone, I would like to welcome mother and entrepreneur, DeQuindra Brightman! She is joining me today to speak about her own journey and experiences with being a mother to a wonderful son, who is 6 years old and on the autism spectrum. This is the first time I have spoken to another parent that understands and I am quite excited. Reminder: we are speaking about our own personal experiences.
I go into more details about why I feel it's important I start this podcast. And I address the division within the autism community when it comes to parents speaking about their experiences with having a child on the autism spectrum. And I talk about some of the misconceptions about autism. Thank you for tuning in!
In episode one, I talk about the signs and symptoms leading me to believe that my son was on the Autism Spectrum. I was excited and nervous to record this first episode, but I look forward to you all going on this journey with me.
This podcast is open to everyone. Even if you aren't a parent. You may just be someone who's interested in the topic of Autism. Either way, everyone is welcomed here!
