THE man who was shot dead at a Surrey business in the 13000-block of 76 Avenue on the afternoon of May 4 “was allegedly a “main handler” for the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang and had alleged ties to cricket fixing,” according to a news report.The man’s name has yet to be disclosed by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT). All that IHIT told the media was that he was a man in his 30’s who had no criminal history and was not previously the target of any reported threats or extortion. He was at his place of work at the time of the shooting.There are several businesses operating from the building in which he was killed. Community sources said that the victim had rented office space in one of the businesses.

Six people remained in hospital Sunday following a rural Ontario crash that killed five children on Friday, police say.Investigators say an infant, the children's parents and two older adults believed to be the children's grandparents were among those hurt after a van carrying 10 people and an SUV collided.

Ontario Provincial Police say the four girls and one boy who were killed were members of a family from the community of Elmira, Ont., and were 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 years old. The driver of the SUV, who was the sole occupant, was critically injured.


A family member said on Sunday that they were unable to provide more information as they sort out funeral arrangements and look after the people who remain in hospital.
