Today I watched Joy directed by David O. Russell and starringJennifer Lawrence.
I was very excited when I first saw the trailer for Joy, but asrelease date approached I caught glimpses of not-so-great reviewsand started to lose some of my excitement.
Although I feel like it could have been a lot better, I stillenjoyed it and I thought the story was interesting.
Something I forgot to mention in my audio review... Joy's son.Joy's son? Where is Joy's son? His most important seen I am certainhe was portrayed by some pillows wrapped in a blanket with arecording of cough sounds. The ol' Ferris Bueller. Even his greatgrandmother doesn't really care that he exists. "So much I wantedto tell Joy, and my great grand daughter." You have a greatgrandson too! Good old what's his name. As it turns out, the reallife Joy Mangano has three children, so I guess he should be gladhe even made the cut!
Also, does he age at a quarter of the rate as everyone elsedoes? At the end we see some undefined number of years into thefuture, her daughter is nearly grown (let's say at least fifteen),her father has lost an eye (okay that doesn't have anything to dowith aging) and her half sister Peggy and her ex-husband are greyhaired. And yet her son looks maybe a couple years older thanbefore? Or maybe not, I think we only see him on screen for about25 seconds total so I don't remember how old he was.
Earlier in the film we see a photo of the son and daughter withJoy and Anthony and they're very close in age but now that I thinkof it I realize that was actually a scene in Daddy's Home sonevermind.
