We're slowly getting back to a regular schedule after I was out with COVID. Thanks for your patience!  I share what's been on my mind lately, and what kept me preoccupied when I was recovering from COVID. There's been alot of dystopia floating around in my head - and no wonder, its pretty dystopian right now in the real world. Our lives are intertwined with the digital world, there's a pandemic ongoing, and of course - a US election. What else could 2020 bring us? My basic premise this week - is space travel the ultimate hail mary for humanity to progress to a fantastic future? Can continued lunar presence bring about a stable space economy? Can the long shot of SpaceX creating an independent Mars city with its own laws bring about a good future for humanity? Is resistance futile?

Lots of question - too few answers. But I would love to hear what you think!

We're back! After two weeks with COVID-19, and taking alot of rest and basically putting life on hold - the podcast has returned. A huge thank you to the Today In Space fam for reaching out, sending good vibes, and offering to help. It was a crazy time, and you definitely helped us get through this. THANK YOU!

I wanted to take this episode to share my experience with COVID. I did test positive and I had intense symptoms for 14 days. This is meant to be an episode for anyone who is interested in what the symptoms are like, a breakdown of my anecdotal experience, and a reminder as we enter fall and winter, which is historically an easier time to catch flus & diseases.  We're not quite out of the woods yet with this pandemic, and I had a lot of questions after posting online that I tested positive. So here we are - an engineers observations of having COVID-19, after 8 months and 32 episodes of lockdown. Be well folks - have good habits!

This week we have the creators of the Snap Collar on to discuss their product before it launches on Kickstarter on October 13th, 2020. We had the pleasure of working with them early in the development stages of their design and used 3D printing and iterative design to fast-track their idea from paper to product.

Iterative design is a core tenant in the New Space world, we see this concept in real life with SpaceX's Starship and the Falcon 9. Our 3D printing lab AG3D uses that concept to help people bring their ideas into reality. We're very excited for the launch of Snap Collar and wish both Jack & Mike the best in the next stage of their idea adding value to people like you

This week has been tough for me - so I hope you're hanging in there. Stress overload. I usually end up thinking 'big picture' and looking to the future when that happens.

So for this episode, I pull together some research on how we might make space colonies possible. For me, I'm putting alot of stake into SpaceX's Starship being the vehicle for progressive change to human life on the Moon and Mars.

This week Alex shares his thoughts on the future ahead of us, and just how weird it's going to get. Neuralink is the obvious front runner, allowing us to interface with the brain at a level unheard of before.

Lots of great things for those affected by blindness, deafness, paralysis, memory loss, and stroke complications. But it could be used for a lot of bad too, and we need to start thinking about it ahead of time. The tool called Neurolink is not good or bad, its how its used. This idea of not assigning intent to a tool brings me to the 9-11, and the devastating loss that so many experienced that day in 2001. I share my thoughts as an adult looking back at it since I was experiencing it at as 11 year old. Did the use of a commercial airliner stop me from having an interest in aerospace? Did it prevent me from becoming an Aerospace Engineer?

Finally, its time for a design review of the 3D printed Galileo Rocket. We've learned so much from iteratively designing this model rocket, and we've found some hidden treasures along the way.
