When you need physical therapy, not many patients know the choice is yours for the location. We speak with Michele Glauser, VP of Sales and Marketing at Capital Healthcare Network, about this and more.
Physical therapy can and does include physical, occupational, and speech, and can include continuing care at home.
Research where you want your care. Ask what type of care is offered. Is it appropriate to your situation or your family member? Is the facility certified by Medicaid or Medicare? What insurance do they accept? What is the average length of stay? What are the visiting hours?
When you visit, how do you feel when you enter the building?
Differences between Independent Living and Assisted Living.
Independent Living - very few extras - focus on community life.
Assisted Living - medicine management - meal management - scheduled activities - additional services beyond Independent Living.
How do you approach the conversation to your parents? Nobody wants to give up their independence. Moving into a facility can be scary. Go for a tour, see what is going on at the community, then start talking. Turn to the positives - company, security, activities.
