An official document is going to be released tomorrow that should rock the nation with its evidence of official malfeasance that has jeopardized our national security.  I’m not talking about the House Intelligence Committee’s four-page memo.

The other document is the Nuclear Posture Review. A recently leaked draft suggests it will present grim, yet realistic, assessments of the state of our nuclear deterrent and the growing threats from Russia, China, North Korea and Iran. This NPR accordingly will recommend a comprehensive recapitalization of our arsenal. 

The question now is: Will Mr. Trump’s own administration and Congress follow this needed blueprint for restoring our ability to practice what President Reagan called “peace through strength”?  If so, they must provide urgent and sustained support for both new nuclear weapons and their delivery systems and for an overhauled industrial base to support them.
