A recently built drift track in the Hutto area is raising noise concerns among nearby residents who say they lived in the area long before the track was constructed, City of Austin officials immediately began talking about renaming Cesar Chavez Street. While some councilmembers like Vanessa Fuentes would like to see it renamed after another activist -- Dolores Huerta -- there's a new push to name the street after a local police officer who died in the line of duty and the Travis County District Attorney is pushing back on claims that he held secret meetings with the City of Austin and withheld evidence in a case involving an Austin police officer connected to the 2020 riots.
