"The Hollywood bowl has always been one of my favorite places for their wonderful atmosphere and fabulous concerts. And one night they had the Playboy club jazz festival at the Hollywood bowl. And my boyfriend at the time, a young black man, loved jazz, had favorites. One of them was Dizzy Gillespie. And Dizzy was headlighting one of the nights at the Playboy festival. And I suggested to him that we get tickets and go. Thought that would be something we could share."
