Andre´Leon Talley joins a Zoom call to talk about his new book The Chiffon Trenches. It is especially relevant as racismplayed a prominent role in his journey to become one of the most revered voices in the fashion world. He talks about Dave Chappelle recent special and how he was able to find inspiration for fashion as a young black man living in the segregated south.

The Chiffon Trenches is a memoir of how André Leon Talley not only survived the brutal style landscape but thrived—despite racism, illicit rumors, and all the other challenges of this notoriously cutthroat industry—to become one of the most renowned voices and faces in fashion.

Woven throughout the book are also André’s own personal struggles that have impacted him over the decades, along with intimate stories of those he has turned to for inspiration (Diana Vreeland, Diane von Fürstenberg, Lee Radziwill, to name a few), and of course his Southern roots and ongoing faith, which have guided him since childhood.

Maurisa Turner Potts joins Kelly and Tommy to discuss racism, how to talk to your kids about the current environment and the Black Lives Matter movement and the celebration rituals of Juneteenth.

Indie Lee skincare company generously donated 250 bottles of their hand lotion to frontline healthcare workers in the DC area through the community relations partnership with PenFed Credit Union and the Tommy Show. Tommy and Kelly talked with Sage from the Inova Hospital Foundation about how the local community has come together to support Inova's frontline workers.

Kelly volunteered to donate blood along with the CEO of PenFed at one of the first corporate blood donation drives post quarantine. Kelly, while wearing a mask and donating, attempts to interview James (before briefly sort of fainting.) The show must go on though and life saving work of blood donation is happening throughout PenFed's centers with a goal of 85 pints to commemorate their 85th year of serving the community.
