Ronnie Hawkins immigrated to Canada from Arkansas in the 1950s. It didn't take him long to call Canada his home, & he made a huge splash playing in the bars in downtown Toronto.
He was not only successful with his own musical career. He is also widely respected for helping to launch the careers of artists like Robbie Lane, David Clayton Thomas, Levon Helm, Robbie Robertson & a host of others.
In this episode we discuss stories from playing the bars, encounters with artists like Johnny Cash etc. .

Henry Small has been a fixture on the Canadian music scene since moving here from Up State New York in the late 1960s. His first success was in a band called Scrubbaloe Caine where along with Paul Dean (Lover Boy) & the rest of Scrubbaloe were signed with RCA records. They built their sound & found their groove while playing an extended gig in Quebec city at a notorious biker owned bar called the Circe Electrique.
In this episode, we discuss his experiences going from the relative calm bar scene in Up State New York to the rowdy atmosphere in Canada's bars during the 1970s.
Since then Henry has gone on to many greater heights including replacing Ron Tabak as lead singer in the iconic Canadian rock band Prism & being a member of Burton Cummings' backing band.
While he lives a quite life with his family in British Columbia these days, he epitomized the phrase "Sex Drugs & Rock & Roll" way back when.

Robert Swartz & his brother Mike were still in high school when they were discovered after having recorded a three song demo tape at the Mercey Brothers recording studio in Elmira Ontario. There manager shopped the tape to various record labels & it happened that Quality records was looking for a Canadian version of Kiss. They thought that Rob & Mike's band, Black Wheat fit the bill & signed them to a three album record deal. Along with the deal came a name change to "Lynx".
This is a story about a band & their adventures going from high school to playing arenas & then ultimately after the first two albums, touring the bars across Canada.

Ray "Rabbit" Harrison is an iconic pianist/keyboardist who has played professionally since the early 1960s.
Over all these years, He's played with several top shelf acts including the Grease Ball Boogie Band, Shooter, Crowbar, Downchild & the Cameo Blues Band.

Alec Fraser Jr immigrated from Scotland to Canada as a young boy & although he was upset at having to leave his original homeland, was quick to assimilate himself into Toronto's then burgeoning music scene.
