I am openly, proudly, fully secular in all areas of my life.
There was much silence on The US-vs-Them thinking, denomination squabbles, the prosperity gospel, cliques, religious extremism, and warped attitudes regarding healing when it comes to people with diseases and disabilities.
I also notice that in church, there was little to no talks about how heavy tobacco smoking concerns, weight concerns, little exercise concerns, poor pressure concerns, gossiping concerns, out-of-wedlock stigma, marital rape, pregnancy due to rape, lifestyle discrimination, profession discrimination, cultural appropriation, and concerns about questionable eating habits being issues in The Christian community, (not just unbelievers.) I truly wished that in church culture that I grew up in, there were talks about the how-tos of assertiveness, social skills, soft skills, people skills, conflict resolution, meditation, intellectual virtues, and healthy boundaries. I learned these life skills in the world.
