Tony Alamo with Tony Alamo World Wide Ministries
White Raiment, Heavenly Thrones, and the Call to Overcome
Sermon 760B
A Message From the Archives
This episode presents an archived sermon from Pastor Tony Alamo, introduced by Help from Christ Ministries. The message continues Tony Alamo’s teaching through the book of Revelation, beginning with Christ’s counsel to “buy” gold tried in the fire, white raiment, and eye salve. Alamo interprets these images as a call for believers to gain spiritual experience through resisting Satan, enduring trials, seeing through spiritual deception, and learning to view reality through the Word of God rather than through worldly attractions or carnal thinking.
Gold Tried in the Fire and White Raiment
Alamo teaches that being “tried in the fire” means going through spiritual conflict, tribulation, rebuke, correction, and discipline so that believers can become spiritually rich. He links white raiment to purity, obedience, and being without spot or blemish before God. He warns against what he describes as lawless versions of love that excuse sin, arguing instead that biblical love means keeping God’s commandments. In this framework, rebuke and chastening are not rejection, but evidence that God is shaping those He loves.
Repentance, Spiritual Sight, and Christian Conduct
The sermon places strong emphasis on repentance and practical obedience. Alamo tells listeners to stop acting according to their own understanding and instead submit to what he presents as the rightly divided Word of God. He advises believers not to become obnoxious or argumentative when preaching, saying that if people reject the message, Christians should move on rather than force the issue. He also warns against confrontations with police or property owners, urging believers to comply, leave when told, and pursue any legal response through proper channels rather than through conflict.
Christ at the Door and the Bread of Life
Alamo then turns to Revelation’s image of Christ standing at the door and knocking. He interprets the door as the heart and teaches that Jesus, the Father, and the Holy Spirit desire to enter the believer so that God may live and work through them. He describes “supping” with Christ as learning the Word of God, eating the bread of life, and receiving spiritual understanding that cannot be grasped by a merely carnal mind. For Alamo, true Christianity requires dying out to self so that Christ can live within the believer.
Overcoming and Sitting With Christ
The message continues into Revelation’s promise that those who overcome will sit with Christ on His throne. Alamo teaches that overcoming means resisting Satan, abandoning carnal thinking, and remaining spiritually connected to God while still living on Earth. He compares this connection to a diver receiving air and communication from a ship above, or to a long-distance call in which the believer cannot see God but can still speak with Him and hear from Him. He emphasizes that faithful believers are united with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and are called to sit with Christ in heavenly places.
Revelation Chapter Four and the Heavenly Throne
Alamo moves into Revelation chapter four, describing John’s vision of heaven, the throne, the one seated on it, the rainbow like an emerald, the twenty-four elders in white raiment with golden crowns, lightning, thunder, voices, the seven lamps of fire, the sea of glass, and the four living creatures. He stresses that heaven is a place of holiness and purity where no one enters with spotted or blemished garments. He interprets the imagery as spiritually meaningful and says believers need teachers, preachers, evangelists, and prophets to help explain such mysteries.
Letters, Salvation, and the Closing Appeal
The program closes with listener letters from New York and Abidjan, Ivory Coast, including a request for literature and the Messiah book, and another letter seeking spiritual instruction and help for a prayer group facing occult customs, sorcery, Islam, and cults. Alamo responds by describing the world as deceived and hostile toward true Christians, then urges listeners to be born again of the Spirit. The broadcast ends with a sinner’s prayer, contact information for obtaining the program and ministry materials, and Alamo’s closing promise of another message from the Word of God.
