Tony Finau and volunteer Bill Patterson were brought together on January 30, 2018 at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, held at TPC Scottsdale, where the veteran PGA TOUR player rescued Patterson from a near tragedy on the driving range. Patterson was performing his duties, as he has for the past decade, when he lost control of his golf cart (2:38) and got run over. Patterson was dragged some 50 yards before Finau reached him and was able to move the cart off. He has since made a full recovery and reunited with the golfer at the 2019 3M Open in Minneapolis, Minnesota (6:28). Up & Down is a new podcast from the PGA TOUR. Wyndham Clark is joined by his caddie, John Ellis, and friend Jeff Gaskill and looks back to his start in golf at the age of 3, first hole-in-one (2:15) and path to choosing golf as his primary sport (3:34). Clark walks through where he met Jeff (5:35) and John, who was an assistant coach at Oregon (7:30) and keeps a handy tool in the bag to keep Clark in check if he gets “baby-ish” on the course. The duo share a few stories from their time together on the PGA TOUR (8:25). In 2013, tragedy struck when Clark’s mother passed away, but the young professional plans to turn heartbreak into a good cause as he establishes his career (11:39).
