After toxic relationships or emotional abuse, many of us learn how to survive by becoming incredibly strong and independent. We stop chasing, stop needing, and promise ourselves we will never lose ourselves in love again. And that strength deserves deep respect.
But sometimes the independence we fought so hard for slowly turns into something else: hyper-independence. The belief that we must do everything alone, that relying on someone is dangerous, and that opening our hearts again might cost us our peace.
In this episode, I talk about the journey from codependency to hyper-independence—and why both can keep us from the kind of love we actually want.
We explore:
•Why hyper-independence is often a trauma response
•How past relationship pain can quietly close our hearts
•Why strong, successful women sometimes still attract emotionally unavailable partners
•And how to find the balance between self-respect, boundaries, and allowing real love in
If you’ve done the healing work, built your independence, and still feel like something is blocking the kind of relationship you desire, this episode is for you.
Because true healing isn’t about needing no one. It’s about becoming strong enough to stay open.
