Professor Alan Jagolinzer
Auditing Disinformation: Can We Use Accounting Principles to Fight Fake News?
But it's his journey to this point that is particularly interesting. After almost a decade in the US Airforce, he has been a professor of accounting at Stanford, the University of Colorado, and now Cambridge Judge Business School, where he heads the accounting faculty department at Cambridge University.
It’s the disinformation around stock and market manipulation that led him down the rabbit hole, and he is now developing research and curriculum on this subject.
Media literacy, transparency, and government oversight. What role does each play in ensuring accountability in our online world?
How do we protect free speech and hold accountable that speech within social media platforms?
Should people be allowed to sue platforms for damages?
Alan spoke through the direct ways corporations are falling victim to bad actors on social - from manipulating stock prices, competitor attacks, political influence, impersonations, and threats to senior executives.
If you would like to book your in-person or virtual ticket to the Cambridge Disinformation Summit, you can visit the site.
A post by Alan explaining his motivation in fighting disinformation and organizing such an event. Read here.
