Let yourself be Wild!

One Clarkson has been left behind with the love of her life, the three remaining Clarkson's and one 'guest' have hit the road working their way to New York still on a mission to finish what Rita started or more precisely the deceased Clarkson matriarch started. On the way to completing their journey to New York for a New Year celebration, the three remaining Clarkson's plus one make a stop in Iowa where Aaron is on a mission to reclaim his career, which is in a complete mess after he made the wrong decision and slept with his bosses wife.

I knew that I was going to fall for Aaron, even after his crappy, jerk-ish, playboy start. I knew that Aaron was hiding himself behind attitude and cockiness. But what I didn't expect to find is how deep his emotional pain went, how much of a little boy he still kind of is, how much his heart aches for love and acceptance. I didn't expect to find that the one who is truly 'wild' in this book isn't Grace, who I ADORED, but Aaron. In fact I finished reading Too Wild To Tame went to bed (at like 2 am of course, because you can't put it down) and woke up with a start when I realized that Aaron IS wild. I was so taken aback by this sleepy revelation that I, looking like the book nerd I am, shyly shared it with Tessa...this is what I told her:

So I went into the book, I imagine like everyone will, thinking the 'Wild' in Too Wild to Tame refers to Grace. She's so obviously wild in her artistic way and I love it, but then this morning when I woke it came to me. What if really she's not the 'Wild' one or at least she's not the only 'Wild' one. It seems to me that Aaron is really the 'Wild' one that can't be tamed. His 'Wild' though is this deep, almost dark, secret wildness. He is so controlled and he needs that control because when he lets go his 'Wild' comes out and he doesn't know how to be wild. You see it in their sexual relationship, you see it when he 'doesn't know' what to do. His mind is always wild and he shields himself from that wildness by being so controlled and controlling those around him.
