Fred Shaw was 35 years old and had never been to the Adirondacks when he received an invitation to apply for a job here.
In 1987, he’d finished years of education and training and been ordained as a Protestant minister. While working in churches in Connecticut, where he grew up, he began looking for a full-time position somewhere in New England, preferably Maine.
He wasn't having much luck, but then, in 1989, he received a letter.
