    The leader of New York state's largest public-sector union has compared Donald Trump to Hitler, Mussolini and Stalin, saying the Republican president could have mentored the three despots.CSEA President Danny Donohue denounced the president Wednesday during an appearance with other labor leaders and Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo. The men were discussing the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that government workers can't be forced to contribute to unions.Cuomo has repeatedly criticized Trump's policies and decisions but has pointedly avoided name-calling. He sat expressionless during the remarks.Condemnation of the Supreme Court decision was broad among state union leaders, but mostly more moderate.

  • Tri-Lakes Takes: Essex County NY-21 candidates find little hometown advantage
    The long, crowded primary campaign to choose a Democratic nominee for Congress from the North Country ended with voting Tuesday. Tedra Cobb of Canton defeated four other candidates for the nomination and it was not close. Cobb won about 56% of the vote. Dylan Ratigan and Katie Wilson were in distant second and third place with about 12% apiece, Emily Martz and Patrick Nelson trailed.Peter Crowley is managing editor of the Adirondack Daily Enterprise in Saranac Lake, and of course was following this campaign very closely.
