Health insurance companies regulated by the state are waiting to hear back about their requests for 2021 rate changes for premium holders. The companies, like nearly every other industry, face many uncertainties due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and their requests vary widely.

State police have arrested a Plattsburgh-area man for yelling racist slurs and punching the hood of car with two people inside. 35-year-old Derrick Kennedy of Altona has been charged with a hate crime.

We reported yesterday on the recent transfer of nearly 100 elderly inmates to Adirondack state prison in Ray Brook. One of those inmates has now tested positive for COVID-19.
