A long time Capitol reporter was arrested yesterday for talking on the phone in the State Senate lobby. Daily News reporter Ken Lovett was released without charges after Governor Andrew Cuomo intervened.

Most of our North Country at Work stories look outwards, at people and places from across the region. But in honor of our 50th Anniversary and our spring fundraiser, we're looking behind the scenes here at North Country Public Radio with Lamar Bliss, an early announcer and host. When Lamar started working at North Country Public Radio there was one transmitter - the original one on Waterman Hill just outside Canton. Network programs were received via telephone line, and the station also received programs by mail on tapes, which Lamar helped cut and queue up on the tape machine. She was also on the air, which she says took a little getting used to.

Talks on the state budget were stalled just days before the March 30 deadline, as Gov. Andrew Cuomo and state lawmakers continued negotiations. Groups pressing for additional issues that are in the governor's budget plan still have not given up hope.

Cynthia Nixon, Democratic candidate for governor, came to Albany to critique the school funding record of her potential primary opponent, Gov. Andrew Cuomo. The funding is now being discussed in the state budget. As in all of her comments since she's announced her candidacy, Nixon didn't pull any punches.

The head of the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association, the state's biggest gun-rights group, says huge rallies over the weekend in support of gun control are part of an effort to erode 2nd amendment rights.

North Country congresswoman Elise Stefanik says she hopes President Trump will visit the North Country during his first term. Stefanik sent a letter to Trump late last week praising his leadership and inviting him to tour the Fort Drum military base.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo and legislative leaders are negotiating a new anti-sexual harassment policy for state and local government officials as part of the state budget. But several victims of sexual abuse and harassment in the Legislature have come forward with a letter asking that the issue be taken out of the budget.
