Enchanting, magical, amusing bedtime story about a little girl who loves fairies.
When Emily finds what she thinks is a fairy's ring in the wood, she wears it on her finger as part of her fairy dressing-up outfit. But back in fairy land, the Fairy Princess' Crown has gone missing because naughty Fairy Dandelion borrowed it and then lost it. Unless the princess has it for her coronation at midnight, the Evil One will claim that she is the true queen by fairy law and that will be the end of fairies.
When Emily is asleep, Fairies Dandelion, Lilac, and Snowdrop come looking for the crown. They see something shining on Emily's finger.

This was a sweet children's story
Emily is a little girl who reads about fairies and gets visited by them at night! This was a sweet children's story, as described. However I felt it was a little slow to get started - the first couple pages talk excessively about how Emily doesn't want to fall asleep. Once the story got started, and we met the fairies and saw their struggles to retrieve the Fairy Princess's Crown, I was more engaged.
The timeline was a little confusing, as there were more flashbacks than I am used to encountering in a children's book, however, the important points of the story are in order, and so it works!
A Beautifully Written Children's Book
This was a delightful story for children that was beautifully written focusing on fairies, a ring and a little girl. What I liked about the story was that it showed a relationship between a daughter and a father, rather than the usual stories of mothers and daughters. I will be looking for more books from this author.
But the fairy crown is important to several adorable fairies, who must retrieve it before something awful ...
Emily finds a fairy crown in the forest that she thinks is a ring. She wears it to bed and falls asleep. But the fairy crown is important to several adorable fairies, who must retrieve it before something awful happens in the fairy world. The illustrations have lovely, rich colors. This is a cute bedtime story for little girls.
