There is a proposed bylaw afoot in Nantucket called “Gender Equality on Beaches” that aims to give everyone regardless of gender the right to go topless on town beaches. Current state law only allows for men to go topless publicly. Proponent of the proposed bylaw Dorothy Stover finds the current law to be “antiquated” and an example of inequality.
