The famous episode of the biblical spies takes place in this week’s Torah portion. As the story goes, the spies went to scout the land of Israel and almost all of them came back with a negative report of the land. Given that this was HaShem’s chosen land, He was less than pleased. There are a multitude of lessons to draw from their accounts and experiences, however I will bring one from the Meshech Chochmah with a practical take away for the ages. Fun fact: Meshech is an acronym for the author of this work, Rabbi Meir Simcha HaKohen of Dvinsk (1823-1926).
