So my first experience with MACKINAC ISLAND was because my friend got married there. Now Mackinac thrives on its wedding season and is a must for those considering a destination wedding. Here you can then narrow it down to weddings and start planning or dreaming.

Maria is an artist that captured my attention on Instagram. How? Her work is done strictly with colored pencils. So what she talks about today is how her artwork is taken from photos and then recreated by her with her incredible artistic hand. Not only can you buy her art online but it is available on the island as well. Located at Island Breeze Fine Art Gallery on Main St downtown Mackinac. I loved learning all about her process and I know this young artist is going places.

Peace, Love & Lilacs- yes I am obsessed with this theme. For 10 days Mackinac hosts a Lilac Festival that include so many fun events. This in my opinion is what truly launches the full season on the island. Tune in to hear all about what the island offers. So this was my first time staying at a Bed and Breakfast and I cannot say enough about it. Cloghaun offers a cozy and historical stay. Why historical? Well all throughout the house are beautiful antiques along with historical photos of the family. I loved seeing something new everyday. The porch is worth it all. To sit and hear the sounds of the island and relax with homemade chocolate chip cookies- yes please. Suzy the innkeeper does breakfast like no other. I loved the surprise yet beautiful presentation of each dish. Be sure to go to the blog or Instagram to see the photos of the breakfasts. Did you know that Boy and Girl Scouts will go and stay up on the island? Yes it is true. You are chosen to do this and Valerie goes into to detail of how it is done. She herself got to experience it. Along with raising the flags at various points on the island- scouts serve as guides for tourists. I did a little more digging and found a great article about how they got started with it on the island.

So I will be Honest I love me some jewelry. So when I came across Megan from MMK designs who lives on the island year round and sells unique pieces from rings to large necklaces. She uses flower in resin and even Van Gogh. She will be having some of her stuff in the shop downtown-Decked Out. I loved learning about how she came to be on the island and what she has in store for her jewelry line this year.
