1 John chapter 5, verse 21 (AMPC) says "Little children, keep yourselves from idols (false gods)—[from anything and everything that would occupy the place in your heart due to God, from any sort of substitute for Him that would take first place in your life]. Amen (so let it be)." 

If we are wondering what is keeping us from blessings, know that we need to love what God loves and remove what replaces Him in our lives. IDOLS, things you're addicted to, and cannot stop worshipping, are what is keeping you from moving forward in Christ.

When we buy a house or car, we find out what the instructions are for owning what we have been given.  With blessings from God, do we even know what the blessing is? What can we be blessed with from God? What are God's Blessings? What is a Curse? Sometimes a delay in receiving or experiencing God's blessings are from not knowing the fine print of what you are entitled to.
 
What are the instructions? Are you following them? Are you helping blessings or curses come about in your life? Thinking we know what God's blessings are, is not the same as knowing you are walking in God's blessings.

This week we dive into finding the path of truth. When you know the truth through the instructions given, you get results. In order to do that, we must know what lies do. A lie can keep a person stuck in a place, situation, relationship and much more. Why? Because that person cannot find the truth. Everything is based on something false and untrue. A lie can keep the person coming back because nothing makes sense. The truth breaks the chains of confusion because it is based on reality and facts. In fact, a lie holds a space until the truth replaces it. For those who are believers, you will know the truth and the truth shall set you free.

Following God's instructions can be rewarding, if that is what you are following. We must however first look at our motive and heart posture. If what you are asking God is different from what is truly in your heart, it can get confusing. Why? Because the motive of the heart can leave you going up and down. Are you following what God wants, or what you want? Can you trust your own heart?
