In this first episode of Back Roads, I talk honestly about what it’s really like being a woman on Australia’s back roads — the close calls, the uncomfortable moments, and the way responsibility is quietly shifted onto women when something goes wrong.

I also look at real cases of women who have been attacked, gone missing, or been forced into terrifying situations — and ask the question we keep avoiding:

Why are women still expected to change their behaviour instead of being able to feel safe?

Because in 2026, women should be able to travel, exist and move through this country — without needing permission, protection, or a plan to survive.

Tour Talk is back — and this season is different.

I’m travelling Australia solo with my dog Frank, teaching where I can, running where I can… and uncovering the stories that sit just beneath the surface of the places we pass through.

This season of Back Roads looks at small towns, remote roads, and the uncomfortable stories we often don’t talk about — especially as women travelling alone.
