Andy French can be best described as a dedicated citizen of Albion. Over the years, French has given his time and talents to improving both Albion College and the community. In this episode, he provides updates on downtown revitalization and how we all can become involved in community rebuilding. 

On the eve of opening night for MEN ON BOATS, the assistant professor and chair of theatre discusses changes to the department, community involvement in theatre and, of course, his new production.

Mae Ola Dunklin, a former educator and principal in the Albion Public Schools, and director of Albion College’s Shurmur Center for Teacher Development, talks about serving on the Big Read committee, and all the excitement surrounding the activities.

Mae Ola serves on many other boards and committees in the community, including the Albion College board of trustees. Through her work with the Big Read, Mae Ola looks to improve literacy in the community. Albion’s Big Read is taking place through the month of October, and we talked the day before the kick-off event.

Albion College chemistry professor Cliff Harris, who, along with his wife (and communication studies professor) Karen Erlandson, launched a monthly concert series at the Bohm Theatre called Blues at the Bohm.

Cliff, a musician and performer himself, now finds himself in the role of concert organizer and promoter, all for the good of Albion’s nightlife. And he’s had a lot of help along the way.

Alex Carroll, ’03, went from a Midwestern chemistry major at Albion College to an actor in Hollywood, starring in movies such as The Work and the Glory and Marvel’s latest Agent Carter TV show on ABC.

Our talk with Alex focuses on becoming a Hollywood actor, starring in Marvel’s “Agent Carter” TV series, and what he’s learned in the acting world. Alex was on campus to talk to a group of prospective students about his Albion experience and the power of the liberal arts.
