The horrors of abortion appear daily as states across the country pledge their support for late-term abortion laws. And, with the recent change in New York’s law legalizing abortion right up to the point of birth, we see virtually immediate real-world impact.
The ink was barely dry on New York’s “Reproductive Health Act” when the New York Times reported that, after Governor Cuomo’s signing of the bill, “anti-abortion campaigners predicted it would eliminate criminal penalties for violence that ends women’s pregnancies. The debate resurfaced over the weekend after the Queens district attorney, Richard A. Brown, cited the new law … as the reason for dropping an abortion charge against a man who the police say fatally stabbed his former girlfriend when she was 14 weeks pregnant.”
The speed of the moral revolution is dizzying: Just days after the passage of this abortion law, the criminal justice system dropped its case to protect the life of the unborn.

President Trump has nominated economist, former Reagan aid and Kudlow protégé David Malpass to be the new head of the World Bank.
When I saw that I thought Malpass was a good choice, but then folks in the media went to work and uncovered quotes which show that Malpass has been a frequent critic of the agency. So: I’ve changed my mind. Now I think he's a perfect choice!
The World Bank was founded at the end of World War II to—initially—administer an international gold standard with a stable dollar at the center. But since the end of that standard, it's become a honey pot for 3rd world dictators and green crony capitalists. Malpass is just the right guy to return it to its original purpose, blowing the whistle on monetary debasement, and giving 3rd world countries advice on how to shrink the size of their governments.

Some in the mainstream media have tried to marginalize the Green New Deal, characterizing it as only relevant to a few politicians on the far left.
The reality is very different. The Green New Deal has become the policy manifesto for many prominent Democrats—including most of the leading candidates for president in 2020.
Cory Booker, Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris have all embraced the Green New Deal as their own because they’re politicians, they understand they cannot secure the presidential nomination for the Democrats if they don’t court and cater to the progressive left.
But, in so doing, they’ve handed President Trump a big gift. He’ll be able to frame the upcoming election as a fundamental choice between historic American free enterprise and policies that verge toward centralized decision-making, more government control, and, yes, socialism.
That’s an easy choice for the American people to make.

The horrible reality of late-term abortion points to the horrible reality of abortion, period. The abortion-related legislation in the news in recent weeks reveals a progression in pro-abortion thinking: Late-term abortion is becoming a basic principle of the pro-abortion movement.
From the State of New York, to Rhode Island, Virginia and now Illinois, we are seeing legislation put forward that reveals the truth about abortion—the mask taken off, as it were.
We’re seeing the determination that abortion be available to any woman at any time for any reason or for no reason—even to the point that the advocates of abortion, who had basically tried to indicate that they understood third-trimester abortions to be different, now they're saying they’re not different at all.
And we also have to acknowledge this follows their own deadly logic.
Either life is sacred and worth protecting … or it’s not.

As soon as President Trump deleveraged by ending the partial government shutdown, it was inevitable that he’d only get a fraction of the money and miles of border barriers he wanted—at least for now.
Rather than quarreling about whether this is a win or not, Trump should use it as the stepping stone on the path to victory in 2020.
Trump will have pictures of new infrastructure along the border, the support of border patrol and stats demonstrating a decline in illegal crossings.
That will be more than enough evidence to wipe away the specific numbers on miles and dollars from the concerns of most voters, particularly his base.
He should take the deal and build on it.
Next: He should find an accommodation for DACA designees to cement his position as a leader who cares about the safety of human beings on both sides of the border.

The old saying that the Episcopal Church is “Catholicism without the Pope” might be obsolete. The Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church has chosen to subvert the church at its core by penalizing the Bishop of Albany for refusing to allow same-sex marriages in his diocese.
Last year the Episcopal General Convention passed a resolution that allows congregations to have same-sex marriages despite the objections of their bishop. I attend and serve in the Episcopal Church myself—and this goes to the very heart of Episcopal government. This church is built around the authority of bishops in their diocese. It’s in the name: Rule by the episkopos. Bishops are to rule in their diocese and not rule in other diocese. For the sake of theological progressivism, Bishop Curry and the church leadership have undermined both biblical orthodoxy and the defining feature of the church’s authority.
It’s a sad moment for the Church.

Democrats across the country seem insanely determined to pursue a repulsive political strategy to expand access to late-term abortions, despite overwhelming opposition to the gruesome practice.
In Virginia, for instance, the law already allows women to get-late term abortions if giving birth would “result in the death of the woman or substantially and irreparably impair the mental or physical health of the woman.”
The proposed new law would remove the words “substantially and irreparably” and allow abortion with the certification of a single doctor, not three as currently required- meaning one doctor, citing concerns for his patient’s mental health, could abort the baby at the very moment of birth.
This is extreme, radical and it’s outrageous—and it’s guaranteed to unite Republicans in opposition and damage Democratic prospects for 2020 and beyond.

The Ralph Northam case illustrates, among many other things, the long entanglement of the Democratic Party with the Ku Klux Klan. In the same year that Northam posted his hateful yearbook photo of a clown in blackface next to a figure in a KKK hood, the Democratic leader in the US Senate was a former Klan leader: Robert Byrd of West Virginia. He led the Democrats in the Senate for 8 years, from 1981 to ’89, even though he wrote to a US Senator during World War II: “I shall never fight in the armed forces with a negro by my side” or allow America to be “degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds.”
In contrast to Democratic embrace of Byrd, when former KKK Grand Wizard David Duke ran for Louisiana Governor as a Republican in 1991, leaders of the GOP, statewide and nationally, united to ensure his defeat.

President Trump was right to declare in his State of the Union Address that the tolerance of the ruling elites’ for illegal immigration is not compassionate but cruel.
The Fortune 500 C-suite GOP donors and the open borders/Democrat Socialist crowd practice similar forms of sentimental barbarism: They both treat illegal immigrants inhumanely—as the means to their short-term ends.
For the C-suite GOP donor, the illegal immigrant is useful economically—reducing labor cost.
For the wild-eyed Marxist, the illegal immigrant is useful politically—increasing the cadre of reliable voters.
Both cohorts demagogue their respective parties with rhetoric that frightens voters away from the sort of compromise Trump proffered—a message consistent that of the Statue of Liberty.
A virtuous immigration policy puts a welcome mat in front of our golden door and opens it to new Americans who will serve the long-term interests of America for generations to come.

There are a whole lot of Democrats running for the presidency in 2020. If names like Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, Kirsten Gillibrand, and Joaquin Castro aren’t household names today, they certainly will over the next year or so.
While these candidates will try to sound different from one another, here’s what we know. They actually have a whole lot in common.
Each of them is in favor of higher taxes. Each is in favor of some form of single-payer health care. Each wants to impose more government regulation and red tape on small businesses. And each would appoint liberal judges to the federal courts.
These are not policies that will promote American prosperity and improve our lives. So even as they try to differentiate themselves from one another, know that it’s their similarities that are worth paying attention to.
