People are NOT toxic - but behaviors and relationships can be. 

 

Chemicals and Poisons are toxic if you:

 

are exposed to them

ingest them

 

We may unconsciously be exposed to toxic behaviors or be in toxic relationships. Awareness will allow you to decide what you will or will not tolerate. 

 

I describe behaviors and relationships as TOXIC if:

 

they are harmful

they are mentally, physically or emotionally unhealthy

 

I invite you to consider these questions: 

 

When you describe someone as “toxic”, what are they saying or doing?

When you think the thought “he/she is toxic”, what do you feel:

 

dread?

drained or exhausted?

obligated?

angry?

resentful or bitter?

frustrated?

sad or disappointed?

afraid or nervous?

 

When you were feeling these emotions, did you:

 

blame them?

criticize or persecute them?

look for someone to rescue you from them?
