This week, we all sit down with Barton Ramsey to talk about his sermon on Sunday. We have the opportunity to talk more about Barton's history at Trace. We also talk about the difference in preaching as a staff pastor or as a member. We end with a question of whether the flood a "over the whole world" or "over the whole known world at the time." This week, we talk about Genesis 5-6 and Avery's sermon on this text. Here, they discuss the justice and wisdom of God in the midst of the decision to flood the earth. They also discuss how sin can damage and corrode the culture of a church.

Last week, we recorded a bonus podcast about how we should think about voting as Christians. Our general aim in recording this podcast was to address voting from a biblical perspective and to talk about how voting works in the life of the church.

In this episode, Mathew and Avery talk about the outcomes from the sin chosen by the man and woman. They talk about whether those outcomes were direct punishments or natural consequences of sin in God's perfect world.

They also talk about the importance of God's different consequences given to men and women.

James helps us to see how C.S. Lewis turned a bit of a corner on his grief by allowing his mind to finally come into dialogue with his weeping heart.

James helps us to think through the competing truths we know and the emotions we feel in a difficult loss.

He also helps us to see that grappling honestly with our loss can be helpful, but remaining indefinitely in a place of lament can sour our souls to God and cause us to. forget our place in the world. Part of the healthy grieving process is emerging from the process.

Good news, the guys solve the problem of evil today!

Of course, that's not actually the case, but it's a major issue that comes up when considering the fall and where Satan comes from. Josh gives some of his thoughts about the issue. He also discusses what it was like to preach this text and addresses his approach.
